Innovative Automated Video Infrastructure for a Seamless Fan Experience
Video specialists 80six enlisted by TBA to support the production for the Lenovo x Formula 1 immersive activation in Covent Garden
Lenovo partnered with Formula 1 to create an exciting racing simulator experience in Covent Garden, featuring a Lenovo-branded F1 show car as the centrepiece.
The fan-centric event, produced by TBA, marked Lenovo as Formula 1's official technology partner. Guests enjoyed VR5 motion simulators, an AI driver filter photoactivation, and a live race between F1 legend Paul Di Resta and gamer Aarav Amin.
THE CHALLENGE
80six was responsible for the video and audio playback from disguise, displaying live scoreboard updates and AI-generated content in real-time, pixel mapping Titan tubes and audio playback.
The primary objective was to streamline the automated video infrastructure, reducing the system's operation from requiring eight-button pushes every three minutes to just one button push at the start of the day, via an automated loop running on disguise media servers.
The setup, including building the LED screens, two LED columns, and all programming, was completed within 12 hours.
THE SOLUTION
The activation featured a fully automated setup controlled by a disguise timeline, which managed the switching of multiple inputs in the Barco E2 video signal processor.
By using disguise media servers, the complex process was simplified, ensuring that the activation ran seamlessly throughout the day.
